There is a current widespread mass marketing of so called reading lamps with names like earth lamps, daylight lamps, green lamps, ott lamps, full spectrum lamps and others that promise the best reading light. Customers routinely bring these lamps into our shop for repair after using them for only short periods. The high replacement costs for specialized bulbs, electronic transformers and extensive labor render these lamps unrepairable, useless and destined for the garbage dump.
