Swing arm lamp shades come in many sizes and shapes. The general idea when selecting a swing arm shade is proper relative size.
When a swing arm is opened, the lamp may often appear top heavy compared to the closed arm position. To avoid this, make sure the shade is 15" maximum bottom width for floor lamps and 12" maximum bottom width for table and wall lamps. Of course this is a starting point and the shade size must be in proportion to the lamp size. Swing arm lamp shade help is here.
Most swing arm lamps are right at home with shades that are 12-13" on the bottom. You will find these very beautiful fine quality Swing Arm Lamp Shades here http://www.hoylelamps.com/Lamp%20Shades%20-%20Swing%20Arm%20Lamp%20Shades.htm
